Edward H. Koo, MD

Edward Koo received his M.D. degree from Duke University in 1980. After graduation, he received residency training in anatomic pathology at Duke University from 1980-81 , followed by internal medicine residency training at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill from 1981-82. He completed a neurology residency at University of California, San Francisco, where he was the chief resident in 1984-85. He then went to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for further training in neuropathology, followed bya research fellowship at the same institution in the laboratory of Dr. Donald Price. He was promoted to Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University in 1990 before moving to Harvard Medical School in 1991. In Boston, he was associated with the Center for Neurologic Diseases at the Brigham and Women's Hospital under the directorship of Dr. Dennis Selkoe. In 1996, he joined the Department of Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego as an Associate Professor. His research focuses on cell and molecular biology aspects of Alzheimer's disease.
