Endocrinology

Endocrinology is the study of the endocrine system, which is a complex collection of hormone-producing glands that control basic body functions such as metabolism, growth and sexual development. Many of the hormones produced by the endocrine glands interact with each other to maintain balance. As we age, maintaining the balance in this system becomes more difficult when dealing with chronic health conditions, lowering levels of these hormones, and for women, menopause. Some common conditions that are directly connected to the endocrine system are diabetes, osteoporosis, sexual dysfunction and metabolic disorders.
